Could you be a little more specific? I always thought that Irish Portatoes was another name for white potatoes.

Do you mean actual potatoes or do you mean the candy called Irish Potatoes, which uses mashed potato, powdered sugar, and coconut and is shaped like a potato and rolled in cocoa and studded with pine nuts for the "eyes"?

What we consider Irish potatoes are sliced peeled potatoes fried in a bit of butter or oil with sliced peppers and onions. Yummmm!

Everywhere I've seen or heard it, "Irish potatoes" was simply another name for white potatoes as opposed to sweet potatoes. Did you have a more specific Irish potato dish in mind? if you can describe it, I might have a recipe.

The recipe seeker may be looking for the candy which contains cream cheese, a bit of potato, sugar, perhaps coconut, rolled into balls and dusted in cinnamon. We see them in PA around St. Pats.

2 boxes Conf. sugar
2 tbl vanilla
cinnamon
1 8oz pkg cream cheese
1 7oz pkg. coconut
Soften cream cheese, mix all ingredients except cinnamon. Shape into balls and roll in cinnamon. Refrigerate. Makes 3-4 lb candy. This is my favorite candy. Bob
