How do you microwave a potato to become a baked potato?

Scrub potatoes and puncture the skin so they won't explode. Microwave about 3 min. per potato, rearranging once. Then wrap them in aluminum foil, shiny side out, for about 10 min. (This done outside of the oven of course.) Potatoes cooked this way are not the same as potatoes baked in a real oven with real heat, but they are easy to fix and okay to eat.

Wash the potato, use a fork to pierce it in half a dozen or so places distributed around the potato and microwave on high for about 11-13 minutes for 4 medium size potatoes.

I generally place the potatoes on a sheet of paper towel when I am cooking them.

For one serving, wash potato, make several slits with a knife to let steam escape, micro at 100% for 4 minutes and then REMOVE from oven and wrap in aluminum foil and let stand for 2 minutes. This standing time will steam the potato while wrapped and the skin will perfect. I find this standing time also helps from keeping the potato turning out "mealy".

I nuke potatoes all the time in the microwave.

I usually allow about 3 minutes per potato of medium size. What I do is peel them then take a knife and cut horizontally the length of each potato but careful not to cut through to the bottom. (enough so it is still one piece but will "fan" easy when cooked. Then put butter/marg or spice on top of each potato and then wrap them together (max of 5) in wax paper and cook on hi.

Just take a fork to them and test for doneness. It's very quick as an alternative to the 1 hour on the bbq. Make sure you have the sour cream close by.
