Subject: Potatoes in Crockpot Newsgroup: rec.food.cooking ============================ From: js54@cornell.edu (Judy Scott) Date: Tue, 11 Jun 1996 13:45:25 -0500 -------- Anyone know how long to bake potatoes in a crockpot? I love baked potatoes but the oven gets the kitchen HOT HOT HOT! ============================ From: oddlyenuff@aol.com (LJ Colten-Smith) Date: 11 Jun 1996 15:47:07 -0400 -------- Here's what my notorious CP database has to say about that: :) Crock-Pot Baked Potatoes ## Recipe By : Rival Crock-Pot Cookbook Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Crockpot Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- Potatoes Use 6 To 12 Potatoes Prick potatoes with fork. Wrap them in foil. Fill Crock-Pot with 6 to 12 potatoes. Cover. Go away. Cook on Low 8 to 10 hours (High: 2 1/2 to 4 hours]. Come back. Don't you dare add water! ============================ From: oddlyenuff@aol.com (OddlyEnuff) Date: 14 Jun 1996 08:47:36 -0400 -------- >>BTW, does it work if you don't use foil?<< I don't know. Never tried it without foil and frankly they don't taste as good as microwaved anyways ============================ From: madman@rosenet.net (Denise) Date: Sat, 15 Jun 1996 16:00:04 GMT -------- I just picked up a Rival recipe book at a garage sale and it simply says to fill the crock with scrubbed, well-greased potatoes, cover, cook on low 8-10 hours. And, of course, do not add water. ============================ From: Richard Koser Date: 15 Jun 1996 23:29:45 GMT -------- For the two of us, I cover the bottom of the crockpot with whole, scrubbed potatoes. They conveniently keep, out of the juice that collects, a small, whole, Cornish Game Hen, rubbed with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic. Cook on high 30 minutes and then switch to low. Go to work. Come home to good smells and dinner ready. Despite the slow cooking, the bird tends to brown a bit. ============================ Subject: Re: Crock Pot Scalloped potatoes From: waynew@visi.net (dreamweaver) Date: 27 Nov 1996 04:33:10 GMT skipndee@epix.net says... >Does anyone know of a recipe for scalloped potatoes, done in a crock >pot? I can't find anything in my crock pot cook book. These were posted here recently. My apologies to the author...I didn't save the headers. Although they're not exactly scalloped potatoes (with milk), maybe one will help. * * * * * Title: Potatoes Perfect Categories: Home Cookin, Yield: 4 1/4 lb Bacon; diced 2 md Onions; thinly sliced 4 md Potatoes; thinly sliced 1/2 lb Cheddar cheese; thinly slice Salt and pepper Butter 10 12 hours.
