Fry in hot peanut oil until desired browning is reached. Salt them to taste and you have the BEST potato chips ever. You can also experiment by using Onion or Garli salt as well as other herbs or spices, Paprika or Chili powder for instance. ======================== Newsgroup: rec.food.cooking Subject: Re: potato doughnuts From: laura21@ix.netcom.com (Laura Kay Sunderlin) Date: 11 Jul 1996 00:46:23 GMT chuck dunfee writes: > is there somebody outhere with a good potato doughnut recipe? Well, don't know if it's any good or not, but here's a recipe: 1 package or 1 tablespoon yeast 1/2 cup margarine or oil 2 cups scalded milk, cooled 3 eggs, well beaten 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup mashed potatoes 1/2 cup sugar Enough flour to make the dough soft Crisco for frying Combine dough ingredients, making sure mashed potatoes are smooth before adding them. Let dough rise twice. Roll, shape, and let rise again for 30 minutes. Fry in Crisco. Never tried the recipe, but it's from The Donut Book (Steinberg, 1987), so, umm, it's gotta be good....:) ========================
